VP of Supply Chain Planning

Raymour and Flanigan•Liverpool, NY

About The Position

Raymour & Flanigan is seeking a leader to own demand planning and purchase order execution across approximately 5,000 SKUs. The role is accountable for keeping products in stock without excess inventory, from developing the plan and placing buys through vendor acknowledgement, cargo-ready dates, transportation handoff, and receipt in company buildings when needed. Purchasing must also be paced to weekly distribution-center door and labor capacity, including managing seasonal pull-ahead such as Chinese New Year as a flow spread over months to avoid port delays and demurrage. The role will also advance the use of AI and automation across the function. The company wants forecasting supported by models, rule-based PO placement automated where possible, and PO lifecycle exceptions surfaced early enough to recover dates. Prior AI expertise is not required, but technical savvy, curiosity, and an inclination to automate repetitive work are important. Success in the first year means improving in-stock rates while keeping weeks of supply flat or lower; ensuring receipts fit weekly receiving capacity and peak volumes are smoothed; improving vendor on-time performance to acknowledged dates; and replacing manual monitoring with automated exception alerts wherever feasible. Visa sponsorship is unavailable; candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.

Requirements

  • Deep analytical capability, including working directly with data, building models, and defending the underlying numbers.
  • Fluency with SQL, BI tools, and advanced Excel.
  • Ability to learn an ERP or planning system quickly.
  • Real vendor management experience, including holding suppliers or partners to commitments.
  • Technical savvy, curiosity about AI tools, and conviction that automation can improve the function.
  • Demonstrated ability to build solutions with AI and automation, or a clear record of learning new tools independently and putting them into production.
  • Comfort operating within hard physical or operational constraints rather than relying solely on plans on paper.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Forecast demand across the full SKU base, including new items, seasonal ramps, and end-of-life products.
  • Translate forecasts into actionable buy plans with clear coverage targets by SKU and category.
  • Determine inventory needs by category to maintain availability without carrying more inventory than can be turned, and provide supporting analysis.
  • Place purchase orders against the plan and on the required cadence.
  • Smooth purchasing against weekly receiving capacity so receipts stay within what buildings can absorb.
  • Manage seasonal pull-ahead, especially Chinese New Year, as a months-long flow problem.
  • Manage the purchase order lifecycle, including securing timely vendor acknowledgements and maintaining committed dates.
  • Validate cargo-ready dates and ensure they remain accurate.
  • Coordinate handoff to the transportation booking team so bookings, transit, and receipt align with need dates.
  • Surface PO and supply exceptions early enough for corrective action.
  • Partner with merchandising, transportation, and distribution center operations.
  • Manage vendor performance against acknowledged dates and cargo-ready commitments; address slippage directly with vendors.
  • Develop vendor scorecards and escalation processes.
  • Advance forecasting models, automate rule-based PO placement, and automate the surfacing of PO lifecycle exceptions.
