VP of Supply Chain Planning

Raymour & Flanigan Furniture and Mattresses•Town of Clay, NY

About The Position

Raymour & Flanigan is seeking a leader to own demand planning and purchase order execution across a catalog of roughly 5,000 SKUs. The goal is to maintain strong in-stock performance without excess inventory. This role owns the process from planning and purchasing through vendor acknowledgment, cargo-ready dates, transportation handoff, and receipt at the company’s buildings when needed. The role must account for physical receiving constraints, including weekly door capacity and labor. Purchasing needs to be paced to what distribution buildings can absorb, with seasonal pull-ahead—particularly for Chinese New Year—managed as a flow over several months to avoid port congestion and demurrage. The position also has an AI and automation mandate: improve forecasting with models, automate purchase order placement where rules can be encoded, and automatically surface lifecycle exceptions early enough to recover dates. Prior AI expertise is not required, but technical savvy, curiosity, and an interest in automating repetitive work are important. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship. Raymour & Flanigan supports a drug- and smoke-free work environment and is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.

Requirements

  • Deep analytical capability, including working directly with data, building models, and defending the resulting analysis.
  • Fluency with SQL, business intelligence tools, and advanced Excel.
  • Ability to learn an ERP or planning system quickly.
  • Real vendor management experience, including holding suppliers or partners to commitments.
  • Demonstrated ability to build solutions with AI and automation, or a clear record of learning new tools independently and putting them into production.
  • Comfort operating within hard physical or operational constraints.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Forecast demand across the full SKU base, including new items, seasonal ramps, and end-of-life products.
  • Translate forecasts into actionable buy plans with clear coverage targets by SKU and category.
  • Determine inventory needs by category to support in-stock performance while limiting excess inventory, and provide analysis supporting those targets.
  • Place purchase orders according to the plan and required cadence.
  • Smooth purchasing against weekly receiving capacity so deliveries remain within building capacity.
  • Manage seasonal purchasing pull-ahead, particularly for Chinese New Year, as a months-long flow.
  • Secure timely vendor acknowledgments and hold vendors to committed dates.
  • Validate cargo-ready dates and ensure they are accurate.
  • Hand off purchase orders to the transportation booking team so bookings, transit, and receipts align with need dates.
  • Surface exceptions early enough for corrective action.
  • Partner with merchandising, transportation, and distribution center operations.
  • Manage vendor performance against acknowledged dates and cargo-ready commitments; address purchase order delays directly with vendors.
  • Build vendor scorecards and escalation processes.
  • Advance AI-supported forecasting, automate purchase order placement where practical, and automate exception monitoring.
