About The Position

The VP of Quality and Food Safety provides strategic leadership and guidance for the corporation’s quality program in a multi-state, multi-facility environment. Responsibilities include developing, improving, maintaining, and refining the Corporation’s quality standards and programs to ensure the manufacture of products that meet/exceed our customers’ and Flowers’ expectations, as well as promoting Quality throughout the organization. The VP of Quality and Food Safety has authority to connect with plants, warehouses, offices, etc. to promptly rectify all non-compliance issues. The role requires a leader who has the vision, energy, and passion for Quality, to see opportunities and inspire others to succeed by motivating, attracting, and retaining top talent, including developing others in the Quality area of the organization into positions with greater responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related field

Nice To Haves

  • 10-15 years’ progressive experience in quality management with a food manufacturer or other CPG company
  • Extensive experience with quality controls
  • Master’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Leads, develops, and mentors a high-performing Quality and Food Safety organization while serving as the company's subject matter expert on quality, food safety regulations, industry trends, and best practices
  • Partners with executive leadership and cross-functional teams - including Supply Chain, R&D, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, and Marketing - to ensure quality and food safety objectives are achieved
  • Develops and communicates the overall Quality and Food Safety strategy and vision for the organization, establishing goals, standards, and priorities aligned with business objectives
  • Oversees enterprise-wide food safety systems, including HACCP/HARPC plans, Preventive Controls, internal audits, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Identifies and mitigates quality and food safety risks while providing leadership during crisis responses, product recalls, market withdrawals, and other critical quality events
  • Establishes and monitors company-wide Quality performance metrics, driving continuous improvement, defect and waste reduction, and a culture of zero-defect excellence
  • Ensures compliance with FDA, FSMA, GFSI-benchmarked standards (i.e. BRCGS, SQF), company policies and procedures and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Perform other duties deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, and other applicable operating rules, policies, and procedures
