About The Position

The Vice President of Health Informatics provides executive leadership for WellSpace Health's enterprise health information, clinical technology, data, reporting, and digital collaboration strategy. The position is responsible for ensuring that OCHIN Epic, analytics and reporting platforms, and related technologies support safe, equitable, patient-centered care; efficient operations; financial stewardship; and informed decision-making. The Vice President serves as the lead of the organization's health informatics ecosystem and the primary strategic liaison with OCHIN, and other technology partners. Working in close partnership with clinical, operational, financial, quality, compliance, human resources, and executive leaders, the Vice President establishes enterprise governance, prioritizes technology investments, strengthens data integrity, and leads adoption and change management across WellSpace Health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in health informatics, information systems, computer science, healthcare administration, public health, business administration, or a related field required
  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare information systems, clinical informatics, data analytics, enterprise applications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading an electronic health record environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in healthcare data governance, business intelligence, reporting, interoperability, clinical workflow optimization, and project portfolio management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, influence executive and clinical stakeholders, manage organizational change, and communicate complex technical issues in clear business and clinical terms.
  • Must have valid driver’s license to travel as needed within the Sacramento Region.

  • OCHIN Epic or Epic experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center, community health center, integrated delivery system, public health organization, or other complex ambulatory healthcare setting preferred
  • Preferred credentials may include CPHIMS, CHCIO, PMP, Epic certification or proficiency, or relevant Microsoft certification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a multi-year health informatics and digital systems roadmap aligned with organizational strategy, patient care, compliance, and financial priorities.
  • Advise executive leadership on system performance, investments, risks, priorities, and emerging technologies.
  • Provide executive leadership, strategic direction, and governance for WellSpace Health's OCHIN Epic environment so that the EHR functions as an integrated clinical, operational, financial, and population health platform across all applicable service lines.
  • Develop and execute a long-term Epic optimization roadmap that aligns EHR capabilities with organizational strategy, clinical standards, access goals, quality priorities, revenue cycle performance, patient experience, and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate the EHR Steering Committee an interdisciplinary Epic governance committee to prioritize requests, approve standards, manage competing needs, oversee major changes, and ensure transparent decision-making across clinical, operational, financial, quality, compliance, and technology stakeholders.
  • Direct enterprise optimization of clinical and operational workflows across primary care, immediate care, pediatrics, women's health, integrated behavioral health, substance use disorder services, dental, public health, care coordination, case management, residential and crisis programs, and other applicable areas.
  • Partner with clinical and operational leaders to standardize workflows, documentation, decision support, scheduling, referrals, revenue cycle, and population health tools.
  • Improve provider and staff efficiency through In Basket optimization, personalization, automation, training, and reduction of unnecessary clicks and duplicate work.
  • Develop an enterprise data and analytics strategy that converts clinical, operational, financial, workforce, and patient experience data into timely and actionable information.
  • Working with Strategy and Business Intelligence to design, validate, and maintain executive, clinical, operational, financial, quality, access, workforce, and program dashboards and reports.
  • Establish data governance, standard definitions, data quality controls, report validation.
  • Deliver accurate, timely, actionable dashboards and reduce redundant or unsupported reports.
  • Partner with Compliance, Risk Management, to address cybersecurity, access controls, audits, incidents, and vendor risk.
  • Maintain business continuity, disaster recovery, downtime, and recovery plans for critical systems and data.
  • Oversee high-performing multidisciplinary informatics, EHR, data, reporting, application, and digital systems team.
  • Manage operating and departmental capital budgets, staffing, succession planning, performance expectations, and professional development.
  • Develop business cases, measure return on investment, and identify opportunities to reduce manual work, redundant systems.
  • Assist and support the Center/Department/Program to meet standards of High Reliability.
