VP of External Sales

FUNDVIEW
Hybrid

About The Position

FUNDVIEW is seeking a VP of External Sales to build and lead the company's outside sales organization. Currently, sales are founder-led, and this role is crucial for expanding market reach beyond Texas and into new states. The VP will be responsible for winning new cities, building a scalable sales structure, hiring and training sales representatives, and developing a repeatable sales process. The company offers a proven cloud ERP product for municipalities, with strong customer retention. The market is large, and the primary constraint is sales capacity. The role involves building a sales engine from the ground up, as there is no existing inbound marketing function. Pipeline is generated through disciplined outbound efforts, in-person visits, relationship building, and RFP coverage. The VP will also be involved in rebuilding the company's CRM and sales infrastructure, including a HubSpot migration and the development of new qualification frameworks and sales playbooks. The target buyers are municipalities, which have long sales cycles (6-18 months) involving councils, city attorneys, and procurement processes. The VP will need to navigate these complexities and strategize to change the buying math.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of self-sourced new-logo wins.
  • Experience opening and developing new territories or markets from scratch.
  • Experience hiring and ramping sales representatives as a first sales leader or player-coach.
  • Ability to operate in public-sector buying environments or demonstrate a rapid learning curve.
  • Experience winning long-cycle, committee-driven, procurement-heavy deals (e.g., healthcare, edtech, public safety, enterprise).
  • Familiarity with RFPs, cooperative purchasing, and city attorney redlines.
  • Ability to explain complex software to non-technical buyers (city clerks, finance directors, council members).
  • Discipline in CRM hygiene, written follow-up, and consistent cadence execution.
  • Devotion to the sales craft, including studying losses, self-critique, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to model and hold a team to high standards.
