About The Position

Change.org is seeking a VP of Engineering to guide the technical vision, collaborate with other leaders, and empower cross-functional partners to contribute technically to our product. This role reports to the CTO. As a vital member of the Elections team, you will be an AI-forward strategic executive leader focused on scaling, maturing, and innovating the team's operations. Change.org is the world's largest platform for democracy, investing heavily in AI to build powerful tools that give people a greater voice and bring people together to find shared solutions. The core petitions platform, used by over 100 million people annually, is undergoing a rebuild with new tools to empower civic leaders. A new platform will soon launch to identify common-ground issues and mobilize people for solutions. To achieve this, Change.org is expanding its team at the intersection of technology and social impact to build healthier democracies globally.

Requirements

10+ years of experience in software engineering, including hands-on coding and architecture.
7+ years in engineering leadership roles, including managing managers.
Proven experience leading new product teams or cross-functional squads.
Experience scaling products across diverse or international user bases.
Professional-level English proficiency.

Responsibilities

Establish a clear and strong AI collaboration model between functions.
Provide strong technical leadership as the team evolves product development methods.
Deliver significant increases in user engagement and growth through product-driven growth initiatives.
Establish a strong, trusted partnership with the VP of Product, jointly owning growth strategy and execution.
Influence cross-functional alignment and company-wide direction on growth, establishing best practices and driving coordination across engineering, product, and marketing.
Drive Change.vote's data foundation strategy, creating a master data system that reconciles external authorities with AI extraction and human-in-the-loop review to produce a provenanced, product-ready civic data corpus.
