About The Position

The Vice President of Development & Public Affairs leads the development and implementation of strategies that strengthen the organization's visibility, enhance its reputation, and support its mission and long-term sustainability. The Vice President is responsible for elevating the organization's presence within the community by developing and executing marketing and communication strategies that align with organizational goals and objectives. The position oversees efforts to build meaningful relationships with donors, community partners, and stakeholders while promoting a consistent and compelling organizational brand. The Vice President establishes measurable goals and performance indicators for all development and public affairs activities and develops and manages an annual calendar of fundraising campaigns, marketing initiatives, special events, and community engagement efforts, with defined gross and net revenue targets.

Requirements

Undergraduate degree, Master’s degree in marketing or related field strongly preferred
At least five years of proven experience in a non-profit marketing/ public affairs leadership position supervising others
Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor cultivation, stewardship, and resource development initiatives.
Excellent communication skills
Ability to comfortably deliver verbal presentations and to motivate staff, volunteers and donors to supporting our mission
Strong written, verbal, and public speaking skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with donors, Board members, volunteers, community stakeholders, and staff.
Knowledge of marketing, social media, AI & fundraising software and database management
Knowledge of industry accepted standards and best practices

Responsibilities

Strategize and oversee all resource development activities – marketing, fundraising and public relations. Partner with the CEO to integrate all marketing and public relations activities to help ensure that each resource development activity is related to and supportive of other RD activities.
Supervise and develop department staff including the Director and the Assistant Director of Development. Ensure that all department operations are running effectively.
Oversee the annual marketing plan and branding strategies for the Agency(s), including running the related Strategic Planning LTO committee, and preparation and adherence of budgets.
Organize and lead marketing strategy meetings on a regular basis, with specific focus on the launch of WFCA, Trust, Planned Giving, LW Events, Employer Branding & General Info; report on activities to CEO and leadership as needed
Work closely with executive staff and program management to define marketing objectives and collateral; centralize and streamline organization’s marketing materials, utilizing established brand guidelines; consolidate and designate use of various mailing list databases
Oversee implementation of the Agency’s marketing strategy as it relates to campaigns, events, public relations, and creation and delivery of promotional materials and press releases
Lead all areas of content generation and production across all media platforms (website, social, digital, print, etc.), utilizing third party vendors where appropriate; ensure brand messages are consistent
Maintain relationships with key stakeholders and act as primary liaison with media and marketing vendors, ensuring for the most effective messaging and positioning of the organization
Evaluate ROI on all marketing related contracts and components; monitor analytics; i.e. Google, Facebook, etc., and marketing performance dashboard, recommending and implementing adjustments as deemed appropriate.
Drive overall CRM (customer relationship management) including but not limited to Advocacy/Family/ Board Committees, Agency Newsletter, etc.; nurture and enrich all external perceptions of the organization
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal network, participating in professional societies, etc.
Ensure that team is continuously nurturing renewable donor support from year to year by staying connected to donors via personal calls, emails, presentations, etc.
Work with the Marketing Consultant to ensure that all marketing efforts are on time and on target
Work with the Public Relations consultant to ensure that the agency messaging is on brand, on time and impactful
Ensure that all marketing efforts and SM communications have a measurable goal/impact
Do quarterly department assessment to measure status of campaign(s) and to pivot as needed
Be mindful of agency values and mission in everything you say and do
Perform other related tasks and projects as needed or required by the CEO.
