About The Position

Ambiq is seeking a Vice President of Information Technology to lead and transform its global IT & Cybersecurity function. This executive will be the primary architect of the company's technology infrastructure, enterprise systems, and digital strategy, enabling efficient scaling in the global fabless semiconductor market. This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role for a strategic thinker comfortable with both long-term vision and execution. The role involves end-to-end ownership of IT operations, including AI productivity tools, infrastructure reliability, cybersecurity, ERP modernization, and vendor partnerships, spanning all global Ambiq sites. The position offers the opportunity to build and modernize IT from the ground up in a growth-stage technology company. The role includes a direct seat at the executive table with reporting to the CEO, high visibility with board-level exposure, and strategic influence. It offers the chance to architect IT infrastructure for a scaling, innovation-driven company within a collaborative culture that values bold thinking and decisive action.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, with at least 8 years in a senior IT leadership role (Director, VP, or CIO)
  • Demonstrated success leading IT functions in semiconductor, EDA, hardware, or related technology industries
  • Deep expertise in IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
  • Proven track record of leading digital transformation and driving measurable business outcomes through technology
  • Experience managing and developing teams in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment with globally distributed teams across the US, Asia, and Europe.
  • Strong executive communication skills — able to translate technical complexity into strategic business value
  • Experience with IT vendor negotiation, contract management, and budget stewardship
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer. We do not sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas (now or in the future) for this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a fabless semiconductor or IP licensing company
  • Familiarity with EDA tools, IP management, or semiconductor design workflows
  • CISSP, CISM, PMP, or equivalent professional certifications
  • MBA or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a global IT roadmap.
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives that drive operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve the speed of decision-making across the organization.
  • Partner with the CEO and executive leadership to identify and prioritize technology investments with measurable ROI.
  • Build and maintain an IT governance framework that ensures alignment, accountability, and transparency.
  • Oversee the design, deployment, and management of enterprise IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, cloud environments, and end-user computing.
  • Establish and enforce a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy, ensuring compliance with industry standards and proactive protection against evolving threats.
  • Drive reliability, scalability, and performance across all IT systems to support 24/7 global operations.
  • Lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testing.
  • Ensure SOX IT General Controls (ITGCs) are designed, implemented, and operating effectively across all financially relevant systems, in partnership with Finance and external auditors.
  • Own the lifecycle of enterprise systems, including ERP, CRM, PLM, and collaboration platforms — including roadmap, upgrades, and integrations.
  • Partner with Finance, HR, Operations, and Engineering to ensure business systems are optimized for efficiency and accurately reflect business processes.
  • Lead evaluations and implementations of new systems or replacements to support scale.
  • Inspire and cultivate followership by leading with vision, authenticity, and purpose — earning trust through transparency, consistency, and genuine investment in each team member's growth.
  • Recruit and develop a high-performing IT team, building a culture where people feel ownership over outcomes, not just ownership of tasks - accountability, and a shared commitment to excellence.
  • Coach and mentor IT staff with intentionality, identifying individual strengths and aspirations to unlock potential, accelerate career growth, and build meaningful succession depth across the organization.
  • Model the standard: demonstrate the mindset, work ethic, and values expected of the team, knowing that culture is shaped more by what leaders do than what they say.
  • Build cross-functional relationships that elevate the IT team's reputation as a trusted, credible partner — expanding influence and creating advocates throughout the business.
  • Manage IT budget and vendor relationships with strategic discipline, negotiating contracts that maximize value, minimize risk, and preserve organizational flexibility.
  • Build a vendor management framework anchored in SLA compliance, performance accountability, and strategic alignment — treating key vendors as extensions of the team, not just suppliers.
  • Continuously evaluate the vendor portfolio for fit, capability, and cost-efficiency, making bold decisions to consolidate, invest, or exit when the data supports it.
