About The Position

BMO Capital Markets is seeking a Vice President for its Global Finance Risk team, based in its New York office. The role manages risk across prime services, counterparty credit, and the business, and develops the risk framework, including margin risk methodologies. The position provides direct risk oversight of a business supporting sophisticated counterparties and structured financing activity, requiring technical risk expertise and sound judgment beyond routine monitoring. The global platform includes Prime Brokerage and swap offerings across the US, Canada, and the UK, serving hedge fund and real-money counterparties with portfolios across a broad range of asset classes and investment strategies. The role works closely with trading, credit, market risk, counterparty risk, sales, the front office, and other control functions to ensure comprehensive risk coverage. It includes stress testing and scenario analysis, daily management of client portfolio exposures, support for platform and operational risk, client engagement throughout the relationship lifecycle, and participation in prospective client pitches and term negotiations. The position also supports regulatory responses, addresses emerging counterparty risk events and crisis management, and develops analytics, strategic risk solutions, and platform enhancements. The Vice President is expected to balance the Bank’s risk appetite with client needs, manage and reduce firm exposure, comply with applicable policies and regulations, and make sound risk-informed decisions aligned with business strategy. The role also contributes to a productive, collaborative team culture and to BMO’s Prime Brokerage brand and community presence.
