VP, Global Battery Operations

FluenceUSA-TN-Remote, TN
Onsite

About The Position

The Vice President, Global Battery Operations is accountable for delivering battery cell and battery module manufacturing outcomes at scale, leading hands-on production operations across Fluence’s battery manufacturing network — including internal factories, contract manufacturing partners (CMs), and OEM relationships. Beyond execution, this role charters and owns the global battery cell development roadmap and drives capacity expansion across all regions, shaping where, when, and how Fluence scales cell and module supply. The VP also serves as the critical link between global battery cell manufacturing capability and Fluence’s product needs — ensuring the cell roadmap, chemistries, and form factors stay aligned to current and future product requirements.

Requirements

  • 18+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations, or supply chain leadership, including battery cell and/or module production
  • Proven experience leading high-volume battery cell or module manufacturing operations at scale
  • Demonstrated ownership of a battery cell technology and capacity roadmap, including capacity expansion and site build-out
  • Experience leading factory ramp and CM/OEM ecosystems
  • Proven leader of leaders
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout your employment, without the need for employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in energy storage, batteries, or industrial manufacturing
  • Familiarity with battery cell chemistries, form factors, and cell qualification processes
  • Familiarity with PLM, ERP, MES systems

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end manufacturing performance for battery cell and battery module production across delivery, cost, quality, yield, and capacity
  • Lead day-to-day operations ensuring output meets demand and delivery commitments
  • Drive cell- and module-specific quality, yield, and throughput improvements, including scrap reduction and first-pass yield gains
  • Establish and enforce battery manufacturing KPIs, standardized work, and operating discipline across all global sites
  • Charter global battery cell development roadmap — chemistries, form factors, and technology generations across all regions
  • Define and prioritize worldwide cell and module capacity expansion, including site selection, build-out sequencing, and partner versus internal capacity decisions
  • Lead the strategy and business case for new and expanded cell capacity across the Americas, APAC, and EMEA
  • Set the global make-versus-buy strategy and CM/OEM partner mix for cell supply, balancing resilience, cost, and speed to market
  • Partner with executive leadership to translate growth targets into multi-year cell capacity investment and execution plans
  • Serve as the bridge between global battery cell manufacturing capability and Fluence’s product needs, ensuring the cell roadmap maps to current and future product requirements
  • Align cell chemistries, form factors, and performance characteristics to product specifications, cost targets, and launch timelines
  • Translate product roadmap demand signals into cell sourcing, qualification, and capacity decisions
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to qualify new cells and chemistries and de-risk transitions into manufacturing
  • Ensure cell technology and capacity decisions keep Fluence products competitive and supply-secure
  • Lead new cell and module factory bring-up and production ramp, both internal and at CM/OEM partners
  • Ensure manufacturing readiness across labor, equipment, tooling, materials, and systems for battery production
  • Oversee execution of vertically integrated cell and module operations at planned capacity, cost, and quality
  • Manage capacity allocation across internal sites and partners, and resolve constraints impacting throughput — supply, labor, equipment, or capacity gaps
  • Drive alignment across Product, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality on cell and module priorities
  • Resolve cross-functional issues impacting battery production, cell qualification, or delivery
  • Ensure coordinated execution across the cell and module manufacturing lifecycle
  • Identify and mitigate risks impacting cell supply, battery production, and delivery
  • Lead escalation and resolution of critical battery manufacturing and cell qualification issues
  • Ensure early visibility and response to capacity, supply, and quality risks
  • Lead a global organization of leaders
  • Establish clear accountability for execution and delivery
  • Drive strong operating discipline through KPIs and performance routines
  • Drive improvements in cell and module yield, throughput, cost, cycle time, and quality
  • Embed continuous improvement practices across battery sites and partners
  • Focus on execution-driven performance gains in cell and module production
