About The Position

The vp/finance leads orsa's financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting functions, translating strategic priorities into executable financial plans. In collaboration with leadership, this position owns the annual budget, rolling forecasts, long-range financial planning, and scenario analysis that inform strategic, ALCO, and board decisions. The vp/finance develops forward-looking financial models to assess potential outcomes and resource requirements. Additionally, this position provides guidance to budget owners to ensure accurate resource allocation and adherence to financial targets. This position has a minimum salary of $160,800 , but your offer amount may be increased with relevant work experience and transferable skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, budget, and forecasting, including building driver based financial models and presenting financial insights to executive leadership.
  • Experience within a financial institution, with working knowledge of balance sheet dynamics, ALM concepts, and regulatory capital measures.
  • Reads patterns across growth, rate, and expense trends to see where the plan is likely to break before it does, and rethinks the forecasting approach when historical relationships stop holding.
  • Makes the budget process a coaching conversation rather than a compliance exercise, and grows the financial analyst through genuine ownership of meaningful analysis.
  • Connects the long-range financial plan to orsa's 2036 vision, using scenario models to show leadership what bold strategic bets would take to fund and sustain.
  • Delivers a credible forecast and clear recommendation when the rate environment, member behavior, or strategic direction is genuinely uncertain, naming assumptions openly and reforecasting quickly as conditions shift.
  • Builds and governs planning models and tools that are transparent, auditable, and skeptically tested, moving orsa's financial planning toward durable, scalable infrastructure.
  • Owns orsa's enterprise budget and forecast, structuring financial plans for situations with no historical baseline and coaching budget owners across the organization to make tradeoffs with the same rigor.
  • Diagnoses what the forecast signals for net interest margin, liquidity, and net worth when it isn't obvious from standard reports, and builds the analysis the cfo and ALCO need to act.
  • Turns financial results, variances, and forecasts into narratives that executive leadership, the board, and budget owners understand and act on, especially when the message is unwelcome.
  • Designs how finance partners with accounting and with budget owners across orsa, building a new peer partnership with the svp/accounting where the handoffs are still being defined.
  • Runs the annual budget and long-range planning cycles as complex, multi-stakeholder projects against firm calendars, coordinating many contributors and flagging risk to timelines early.
  • Constantly operate a computer and the ability to read, type, and communicate.
  • Ability to move work-related supplies weighing up to 10-15 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field.
  • People leadership experience.
  • Experience presenting to a Board of Directors or board committee.
  • Experience implementing or administering budgeting and planning software.
  • Credit union experience, including familiarity with NCUA Call Report and net worth requirements.
  • CPA, CFA, or FP&A certification.

Responsibilities

  • Own the financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting function for orsa, serving as the chief financial officer's primary partner on the forward-looking financial picture.
  • Partner with the svp/accounting to keep budget, forecast, and actual results connected, consistent, and reconcilable to the general ledger.
  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor to executive leadership and budget owners, bringing clarity to tradeoffs before decisions are made.
  • Lead the annual operating and capital budget process end to end, including the planning calendar, key assumptions, departmental submissions, consolidation, executive review, and board approval.
  • Partner with budget owners across the organization to build plans grounded in strategic priorities, and coach them to own their numbers throughout the year.
  • Deliver monthly budget-to-actual variance analysis with clear commentary on drivers, risks, and recommended actions.
  • Track capital expenditures against plan and support the evaluation and approval of capital projects.
  • Build and maintain orsa's financial forecasting model, including loan and deposit growth, yields and cost of funds, non-interest income, operating expense, and credit loss provisioning inputs in coordination with accounting.
  • Produce rolling forecasts and periodic reforecasts of the balance sheet, income statement, and net worth position.
  • Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses for rate environments, growth assumptions, economic conditions, and major strategic initiatives.
  • Lead the multi-year financial plan that supports orsa's strategic plan and its 2036 vision.
  • Prepare business cases and return-on-investment analyses for new products, locations, partnerships, and initiatives, and follow up on realized results after launch.
  • Provide forecast inputs, assumptions, and analysis to ALCO in partnership with the chief financial officer, including liquidity, net interest margin, and net worth projections.
  • Monitor key performance ratios such as ROA, net interest margin, efficiency ratio, and net worth ratio against plan, and surface emerging risks early.
  • Prepare the monthly and quarterly financial performance package for executive leadership and the Board of Directors, translating results into insight and action.
  • Design dashboards and reporting tools that give budget owners timely, self-service visibility into their performance.
  • Maintain documentation and controls over budgeting and forecasting models, and support internal audit, external audit, and NCUA examination requests related to planning and capital.
