About The Position

French Florist is hiring a VP, Finance to own the Finance seat on its leadership team and the financial health of its corporate boutiques, franchisor, and franchise system. The role sets finance strategy, owns the Finance scorecard, partners with the President on resource allocation and planning, and builds the controls, reporting cadence, margin programs, and financial infrastructure needed to support rapid growth. The position is focused on financial operations and profitable growth rather than capital markets: the CEO owns capital structure, fundraising, and board and investor relationships, with the VP, Finance providing supporting analysis. The VP, Finance oversees monthly close, accounting controls, payables and receivables, tax and regulatory compliance, franchisor financial statements and audit, budgeting and forecasting, royalty and brand fund calculations, and reporting for leadership and franchise owners. The role also develops supplier and partner programs, tracks rebates and commissions, builds investment evaluation frameworks, and works with Franchise Success to improve franchise owner unit economics and financial health. A central requirement is hands-on, everyday use of AI in finance. The VP, Finance will design and supervise AI agents supporting bookkeeping, payables, receivables, close, reconciliations, and routine FP&A, while establishing human review and controls to ensure accuracy and auditability. The role is expected to build the function using AI, outside partners, and scalable processes, and to determine when additional finance roles are needed.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of progressive finance experience.
  • At least 3 years as the senior finance leader of a company or business unit, reporting to a CEO, President, or CFO, with ownership of P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and close.
  • Demonstrated hands-on AI fluency in finance, including personally built or redesigned workflows such as reconciliations, close tasks, variance analysis, or forecasting, and the ability to explain how outputs were verified.
  • Experience in a multi-location consumer, retail, or hospitality business; inventory, purchasing, and supply-chain experience is ideal.
  • A record of building controls, processes, and reporting from an early-stage foundation.
  • Experience creating new margin through supplier rebate programs, vendor partnerships, or revenue-share agreements, with measurable results.
  • Deep hands-on accounting knowledge and the ability to review a close, identify errors, and explain them.
  • Experience leading through outside partners, firms, and automated tools rather than a large in-house team.
  • Daily, practical use of AI, with the judgment to distinguish reliable outputs from work requiring human review.
  • Ability to balance franchisor and franchise-owner profitability and explain which interests a decision affects.
  • Ability to explain financial variances and margin issues in plain language that supports decisions.
  • Willingness to challenge spending decisions respectfully and offer alternatives.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to create structure without slowing the business.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and commitment to financial-data integrity.
  • Ability to handle sensitive compensation, ownership, and franchise-owner financial information discreetly.

Nice To Haves

  • Franchisor finance experience, including knowledge of royalty and brand fund mechanics, franchise-owner unit economics, Franchise Disclosure Document financial statements and audits, and multi-state franchise compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Finance seat as a full member of the leadership team, set quarterly priorities, propose Rocks, and make the case for required resources.
  • Set finance strategy, own the Finance scorecard, define its measures and goals, and remain accountable for results.
  • Partner with the President on resource allocation, annual planning, and business operating priorities.
  • Create an ROI, payback, and risk framework for evaluating major investments.
  • Own the finance AI agent stack and outside partners; design and supervise agents for bookkeeping, payables, receivables, and routine FP&A, and establish review and control standards.
  • Identify and implement additional finance work that can move to AI agents, documenting controls to maintain accuracy and auditability.
  • Determine when the finance function needs additional roles and define how responsibilities should be divided among staff, AI, and outside partners.
  • Own the monthly close and its accuracy across corporate boutiques, the franchisor, and franchise-owner reporting relationships.
  • Finalize and enforce Delegation of Authority thresholds and ensure spending is coded correctly to the standard chart of accounts.
  • Document and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including collection of overdue franchise-owner balances.
  • Manage finance processes for compensation, including the annual merit budget, bonus accruals, and quarterly confirmation of whether the company bonus gate was met for the President's sign-off.
  • Oversee tax and regulatory compliance, including monthly sales tax, 1099s, annual state and federal filings, local business taxes, and requirements in new markets.
  • Own franchisor financial statements and the annual audit required for the Franchise Disclosure Document, and work with legal counsel on state registration financial-condition questions.
  • Manage the financial integrity of vendor rebates, commissions, payment-processing revenue share, and other system-wide programs while supporting owner and franchisor profitability.
  • Secure written terms for vendor programs, track eligible purchases, claim rebates, and keep franchisor receivables separate from boutique balances with vendors.
  • Identify supplier programs and partnerships that create value and develop their business cases.
  • Ensure royalty and brand fund calculations, including true-ups, are accurate and franchise owners are billed according to their agreements.
  • Model the separate financial impacts of system changes for the franchisor and franchise owners before decisions are made.
  • Build and own the annual budget and quarterly reforecast, and deliver monthly budget-versus-actual reporting with actionable variance explanations.
  • Include rebate, royalty, and margin tracking in standard reporting.
  • Define franchise-owner financial dashboards and benchmarks, including net operating income targets by months open.
  • Set reporting measures, identify trusted data sources, determine where reporting lives, and recommend a build, buy, or hybrid reporting architecture.
  • Keep internal and franchise-owner-facing reporting distinct while maintaining accuracy standards for both.
  • Treat franchise-owner unit economics as part of Finance's responsibility and partner with Franchise Success to provide financial tools, benchmarks, and guidance.
  • Help identify underperforming locations early and support action to improve their financial performance.
  • Hold corporate boutiques to the same financial standards, chart of accounts, and benchmarks as franchise locations.
  • Establish clear and fair financial standards that franchise owners can follow.

  • Stock option grant under the French Florist stock plan, with vesting beginning after one year of employment.
  • Health insurance, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus voluntary benefits such as disability and critical illness coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement program.
