About The Position

The Vice President, Finance Business Partner is a strategic leadership role overseeing finance operations for the Legal & Compliance, People & Culture, Finance, Growth, and Risk and Operations functions within a multi-line reinsurance company. The role calls for broad knowledge of Information Technology, Finance, Facilities and Administration, Operations, Legal, and People & Culture in the context of a reinsurance entity.

Working closely with the Chief Operations Officer, Chief Finance Officer, General Counsel, and Chief People Officer, the position drives financial performance and supports strategic decision-making. It also serves as a conduit between Finance and the aligned functions, presenting to business leaders and executive leadership on investment activities affecting the broader organization. The role is based in the Jersey City, New Jersey office on a hybrid basis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in a senior financial leadership role within the reinsurance or insurance industry.
• Strong knowledge of reinsurance industry practices, investment products, and regulatory and accounting requirements.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Ability to craft narratives connecting financial performance to strategic goals and communicate financial information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to think strategically and drive long-term financial planning, with an understanding of current market dynamics.
• Strong analytical, strategic planning, and communication skills, with proficiency in financial modeling and financial principles.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and guide and mentor teams through thought leadership and support.

Nice To Haves

• MBA, CFA, or other advanced finance qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial leadership for aligned functions, including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
• Collaborate with designated business segments to provide business-partner support, reporting, and analysis that optimizes functions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and standards, including financial reporting and solvency regulations.
• Monitor and analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to senior management.
• Support the development and execution of strategic initiatives, including creating key performance indicators to drive growth and profitability.
• Communicate financial results and strategic plans to internal and external stakeholders, including the board of directors, investors, and regulatory bodies.
• Lead and mentor members of a high-performing finance team, fostering excellence and continuous improvement.
• Present to business leaders and executive leadership on investment activities affecting the broader organization.
