About The Position

The VP, Enterprise Quality is the senior-most quality leader for Trane Technologies. Reporting to the SVP of Global Integrated Supply Chain, this role is responsible for defining the global quality strategy, establishing the enterprise quality management system, and driving quality excellence across all regions, SBUs, products, and manufacturing locations. This leader will build global standards, governance, talent, and performance management systems across core elements of quality, including: quality control and assurance, supplier quality, APQP/PPAP, New Product Development (Design For Quality), early launch containment, warranty and field quality, customer experience feedback loops, and enterprise quality metrics. This leader partners closely with Engineering, GISC functions, and customer‑facing teams such as Services and Field Operations to drive an integrated approach that connects customer experience, design intent, supplier performance, manufacturing execution, and lifecycle reliability.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in quality leadership within global industrial, manufacturing, or complex engineered product environments.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise-wide quality management systems, APQP/PPAP, design quality, supplier quality, and manufacturing quality.
  • Proven track record reducing COPQ, improving customer satisfaction, and building proactive quality cultures.
  • Experience working within global, matrixed organizations with diverse product lines and manufacturing footprints.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Engineering or technical field preferred.
  • Ability to travel globally up to 25–30%.

  • Familiarity with digital quality tools (IoT, computer vision, predictive analytics, automated inspection) strongly preferred.
  • Advanced degree or certification in Quality (e.g., Six Sigma Black Belt, CQE) valued.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and own the Enterprise Quality Strategy that sets the long‑term vision for enterprise quality excellence.
  • Build a unified, global Quality Management System (QMS) with clear standards, processes, and accountability across all SBUs and regions.
  • Build a proactive, prevention‑driven approach to quality, aligned with Trane Technologies’ growth, sustainability, and customer experience priorities.
  • Oversee global quality performance across the full value chain: suppliers, manufacturing, engineering, and aftermarket.
  • Build proactive quality capabilities including mistake‑proofing, advanced quality planning, and early launch containment.
  • Lead enterprise‑wide initiatives to significantly reduce COPQ through improved design, supplier quality, manufacturing quality, and field performance.
  • Implement structured problem-solving and preventive methodologies to reduce rework, defects, warranty cost, and escapes.
  • Drive improvements in supplier qualification, incoming quality, and corrective action effectiveness.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations on shop‑floor quality systems, standard work, and ABC quality improvements.
  • Partner with the Supply Chain Digitization leader and the VP of AI for Business Transformation to implement advanced digital capabilities including: Predictive and prescriptive quality analytics, Real‑time defect detection (IoT, computer vision), Automated quality workflows and digital traceability.
  • Expand AI‑enabled quality tools and machine‑learning models to support early defect detection and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the development of Quality Data Warehouse as part of the broader ISC data lake to enable standardized metrics, automated dashboards, and enterprise wide quality insights.
  • Ensure enterprise data standards and conformed metrics enable high‑quality insights and decision-making.
  • Partner with Engineering to embed quality into design through DFQ, risk assessment, and VOC integration.
  • Establish robust Design for Quality (DFQ) practices and ensure quality requirements are integrated from concept through launch.
  • Establish early launch containment and post‑launch learning loops.
  • Create strong connections between customer complaints, service data, warranty analytics, and factory processes.
  • Improve warranty performance and reduce related costs through systemic corrective action and predictive analytics.
  • Establish global feedback loops that translate customer pain directly into engineering and manufacturing action.
  • Champion quality as a core value that transcends job titles and is embraced across engineering, supply chain, operations, and field teams.
  • Build a global, high‑performing enterprise quality organization, with clear roles across regions, SBUs, and plants.
  • Strengthen quality competencies across inspection, problem‑solving, supplier quality, NPD quality, and digital quality.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
