Gilead is seeking a Vice President, US Commercial Insights, Analytics and Operations to lead a high-impact, highly visible function that shapes commercial strategy, operational excellence, and enterprise decision-making across the U.S. business. This leader will oversee integrated insights, analytics, forecasting, and commercial operations, partnering closely with senior leaders across U.S. Commercial, Global Product Strategy, Global Analytics & Insights, Medical Affairs, Finance, Investor Relations, Manufacturing, and other enterprise partners to translate market dynamics, performance trends, and strategic choices into clear action that fuels growth and advances Gilead’s mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 16 years of experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry are required; 14 years of experience with an advanced degree (MBA, MS Analytics, Ph.D., etc.)
  • Strong track record of commercial success in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry; experience in HIV, liver disease, oncology, or inflammation is desirable.
  • Deep expertise in market research, analytics, forecasting, and commercial insight generation, with the ability to translate complex data into clear strategic recommendations through effective storytelling
  • Proven ability to frame complex business problems, evaluate strategic options, and drive high-impact analytical work.
  • Enterprise-minded leader who partners effectively across functions, influences senior stakeholders, and supports visible, time-sensitive decisions.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to synthesize insights and present recommendations clearly to senior and executive audiences.
  • Strategic, innovative thinker with the ability to define the big picture while guiding execution.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to assess strategic trade-offs, manage complex external vendor partnerships, and ensure investments deliver measurable business impact.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, developing, and hiring high-performing teams; minimum of 8 years of people leadership experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience leading, developing and hiring team members

Responsibilities

  • Define and advance the future state of U.S. Commercial Insights, Analytics, Forecasting, and related capabilities, building an integrated roadmap that strengthens decision-making, speed to insights, scalability, and enterprise impact.
  • Lead state-of-the-art analytics, market research, forecasting, and scenario planning to inform brand strategy, launch planning, business reviews, annual budgeting, latest estimates, and forecasting.
  • Drive commercial operations excellence across field enablement, targeting, sales force sizing and structure, territory alignment, incentive planning, CRM, training, meetings, and other core operating processes.
  • Ensure the team continues to research, assess, design, select, install, and utilizes appropriate technology platforms, business capabilities, and ways of working that encourage process consistency, and scalable information systems.
  • Set an expectation and goal to serve as a trusted and strategic advisor to commercial leadership teams, therapeutic area leads, and other critical partners/stakeholders across the organization. Ensure teams focus on the business needs, and extract and deliver key insights and implications for Gilead.
  • Collaborate effectively with senior leaders across multiple functions and therapeutic areas, influence without authority as needed, and navigate organizational complexity effectively.
  • Partner effectively across U.S. Commercial and other key stakeholders to align priorities, manage trade-offs, and support enterprise decisions at the portfolio level. Coach team to do the same.
  • As an individual and a coach to the Integrated Insights and Commercial Operations team ensure effective communication of complex business dynamics with clarity and impact and tailored insights, recommendations, risks, and strategic choices for senior and executive audiences.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire a team of approximately ~120 professionals, maintaining an environment consistent with Gilead’s core values and leadership commitments fostering continuous learning, inclusive leadership, innovation, and talent development.
  • Deliver forward-looking customer, market, and brand insights to inform therapeutic area strategy, brand planning, launch readiness, and key commercial decisions.
  • Ensure primary research is high quality, compliant, and clearly translated into business implications and action.
  • Analyze secondary data sources to glean insights and understand implications for our business, inform our strategies, and make actionable recommendations.
  • Evaluate potential new secondary data sources and continue to elevate the data platform and impact.
  • Provide leadership for ongoing and regular reporting, analysis, and planning cycles such as Quarterly Business Reviews, Latest Estimates, and Annual Budgeting.
  • Develop and implement robust marketing mix analytics to support business needs and enhance field execution
  • Partner with Global Advanced Analytics COE and “quarterback” analytics and insights for the US business
  • Oversee targeting, field analytics, sales force sizing, structure, and territory alignment.
  • Oversee design, development, and execution of forecasting models for launch and marketed products to inform financial cycles for all therapeutic areas and brands.
  • Carry out base-case and scenario analysis to support decision making by Commercial, Corporate Strategy, R&D, Finance, Manufacturing, and Executive leadership.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to capture mosaic of insights and translate into high quality forecasting.
  • Lead the operational infrastructure, processes, and capabilities that enable U.S. Commercial execution and field effectiveness.
  • Oversee field reporting, incentive planning and administration, CRM, fleet, sample management, training, meetings, congresses, advisory boards, and speaker program logistics.
  • Oversee U.S. Commercial training, meetings, and events infrastructure, including field training curriculum design and delivery, training operations and impact measurement, sales meetings, congresses, advisory boards, and speaker program logistics.
