About The Position

Citizens CM&A’s Consumer & Retail group is seeking a Vice President with sector expertise and transaction experience in Consumer & Retail/Restaurant. Citizens is expanding its M&A practice in sectors where the bank has particular strength, with the goal of building nationally leading M&A verticals.

The Vice President leads all phases of M&A transaction execution and collaborates with industry-aligned Corporate Finance and Financial Sponsor Coverage partners to support existing clients and drive new business origination and prospecting. The role contributes to building Citizens’ advisory position in Consumer & Retail through strategic planning, hiring, developing, and retaining junior bankers, and fostering a culture of teamwork and excellence. The Vice President also helps build the practice’s visibility and thought leadership internally and externally.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of experience executing middle-market M&A transactions.
• At least 6 years of experience executing PE-backed transactions, with active knowledge of the relevant sponsor universe.
• Deep knowledge of and C-suite relationships within the Consumer & Retail sector.
• Ability to lead and manage internal teams and external clients.
• Four-year degree from an accredited university.
• Series 79 and Series 63 licenses are required.

Nice To Haves

• A master's degree is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Handle all aspects of client interaction, including directing and coordinating transaction execution, and take primary responsibility for developing, maintaining, and generating strategic advisory revenue.
• Work with relationship bankers, corporate finance industry sector bankers, private equity coverage bankers, and product specialists on transactions and business development.
• Work with clients and prospects on idea generation and transaction development that complements corporate growth strategies.
• Prospect and market to build an inventory of relationships with owner/operators and PE-backed companies.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and mentoring junior bankers.
• Contribute to strategic planning and to building the Consumer & Retail advisory practice’s visibility and thought leadership internally and externally.
• Help develop and retain junior bankers while fostering a culture of teamwork and excellence.
