About The Position

BJC HealthCare is seeking an experienced and passionate Volunteer Manager to join the team at St. Louis Children's Hospital. This highly visible leadership role is responsible for overseeing the people, programs, and spaces that support a thriving volunteer experience across the hospital. The Volunteer Manager will lead a team of full-time employees while providing strategic oversight for a volunteer program consisting of more than 500 volunteers. This individual will be responsible for developing and managing volunteer services, ensuring an exceptional experience for volunteers, patients, families, and staff, and fostering a culture of engagement and service excellence. This is an on-site leadership position based at St. Louis Children's Hospital, working Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate will bring strong people leadership skills, program management experience, and a passion for creating meaningful volunteer experiences that support the hospital's mission and patient care environment.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree
  • 2-5 years experience
  • 2-5 years supervisor experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business
  • Cert Admin of Vol Services

Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans.
  • Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets.
  • Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Coordinates and manages volunteer service operations, systems and processes.
  • Assists with establishing and implementing departmental goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures.
  • Establishes standards to effectively review and maintain accountability standards as described within the performance contracts.
  • Consults with departments in developing service descriptions for volunteers.
  • Directs and participates in a variety of hospital sponsored programs.
