About The Position

Hospice of Chattanooga is seeking volunteers to support its end-of-life care mission and bring comfort and support to patients, caregivers, families, and healthcare staff. Opportunities include helping behind the scenes, visiting patients, sharing music, bringing a certified therapy pet, or connecting with veteran patients. Volunteers are not paid employees and do not receive compensation for their time.

Requirements

• Have a heart for serving others and an appreciation for the hospice mission.
• Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and deep respect for individuals and their unique journeys.
• Welcome and value people of all backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs.
• Pass background check requirements.

Nice To Haves

• For pet therapy volunteering, have a certified and vaccinated pet.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and organizational support, including light data entry, assembling packets, and sending cards to family members.
• Organize special memories for patients and sew memory bears or blankets.
• Visit patients to offer companionship and give caregivers a break through activities such as reading, hobbies, games, and listening.
• Visit patients with a certified, vaccinated therapy pet to provide joy and emotional support.
• Share musical talents to brighten patients’ days and comfort healthcare staff.
• Connect with fellow veterans, provide companionship, and participate in meaningful ceremonies.
