Victim Advocates are equipped to deal with difficulties like trauma, domestic violence, sexual assault, robberies, or unattended deaths. While on scene advocates offer comfort to victims, assistance to the officers, and referrals to community resources. Qualities needed are a compassion for others, good interpersonal skills, a desire to serve our community in a very personal way, and the availability to serve a minimum of four 12-hour on-call shifts per month. Victim advocates are provided comprehensive training each year. The training academy is anticipated to begin in September 2026. The training academy takes place over 3-4 weeks, including two evenings per week, as well as one full day session on a Saturday. Applicants need to be available to attend the full training academy.
