About The Position

Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office Victim/Witness Division is in need of volunteer phone advocates and volunteer hospital advocates. Volunteer phone advocates will answer a 24-hour crisis line for the agency after hours. Phone advocates will handle calls from victims of crime who need crisis intervention or have questions about the criminal justice system. Volunteer hospital advocates respond to area emergency rooms to assist sexual assault victims. Volunteers work closely with police officers and hospital staff. Hospital advocates are not required to stay at home or be in any one location as long as the staff can reach the volunteer. For both opportunities, the agency will work with the volunteer's schedule. Both positions are available weekday evenings, weekends, and holidays. Volunteers are required to work a minimum of one shift per month.

Requirements

  • Live in Montgomery County
  • Have reliable transportation
  • Attend a 20-hour training course
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Work a minimum of one shift per month
