Volunteer Substitute Teacher

About The Position

LifeWise substitute teachers demonstrate Biblical knowledge and teaching ability. The ideal candidate is an active church participant with strong communication and interpersonal skills who is caring, perceptive, and proficient in teaching students. Substitute teachers complete training and teach LifeWise classes as needed, using the curriculum and lesson plans provided by the teacher. They help maintain a safe, organized, and stimulating classroom in accordance with LifeWise policies and procedures, follow the student discipline policy, keep attendance records, maintain classroom cleanliness and order, know emergency procedures, and communicate with volunteers and the teacher. They also serve as LifeWise Academy ambassadors within the community.

Requirements

Have a mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
Actively participate in and be committed to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
Demonstrate Biblical knowledge and teaching ability.
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Be caring, perceptive, and proficient in teaching students.

Responsibilities

Complete substitute teacher training.
Teach LifeWise classes on an as-needed basis.
Implement lesson plans using the LifeWise curriculum provided by the teacher.
Maintain a safe, organized, and stimulating classroom environment in accordance with LifeWise policies and procedures.
Follow the program's student discipline policy.
Take attendance in each class and provide attendance records to the teacher.
Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-ordered classroom.
Know procedures for emergency situations.
Act as a LifeWise Academy ambassador within the community.
Communicate lesson plans with volunteers before class and assign duties.
Communicate with the teacher.
