Volunteer Substitute Teacher
About The Position
LifeWise substitute teachers demonstrate Biblical knowledge and teaching abilities. The role involves teaching LifeWise classes on an as-needed basis, using the provided LifeWise curriculum and lesson plans, and maintaining a safe, organized, and stimulating classroom in accordance with LifeWise policies and procedures. Substitute teachers also support student discipline, attendance and recordkeeping, classroom upkeep, emergency procedures, and communication with volunteers and the teacher. The ideal candidate is an active participant in a local church and is caring, perceptive, and skilled in communicating and teaching students.
Requirements
- Have a mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
- Actively participate in and be committed to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
- Demonstrate Biblical knowledge and teaching abilities.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be caring, perceptive, and proficient in teaching students.
Responsibilities
- Complete substitute teacher training.
- Teach LifeWise classes on an as-needed basis.
- Implement lesson plans using the LifeWise curriculum provided by the teacher.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and stimulating classroom environment in accordance with LifeWise policies and procedures.
- Follow the program's student discipline policy.
- Take attendance in each class and provide attendance records to the teacher.
- Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-ordered classroom.
- Know procedures for emergency situations.
- Act as a LifeWise Academy ambassador within the community.
- Communicate lesson plans with volunteers before class and assign duties.
- Communicate with the teacher.
