This position plays a critical role in advancing the mission of hospice and enhancing the patient and family experience. No two days are the same for a Volunteer Services Manager. As a Volunteer Services Manager, you will partner with clinical teams to align volunteer support with hospice patient needs, lead trainings, and build meaningful volunteer experiences in hospice. A successful Volunteer Services Manager inspires volunteers, strengthens community partnerships, and ensures every interaction reflects the heart of hospice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (human services or related field preferred)
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • Volunteer management experience preferred
  • Strong leadership, facilitation, and organizational skills
  • Passion for serving others through hospice
  • A proactive, mission-driven approach as a Volunteer Services Manager

Responsibilities

  • Uses organizational priorities to inform Volunteer Services’ strategy.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of the department to sustain and improve current programs.
  • Develops new programs and promotes job creation/volunteer opportunities.
  • Serves as the department’s advocate, champion, and interdisciplinary group (IDG) liaison to ensure Volunteer Services’ role and contribution are optimally represented and utilized.
  • Develops and maintains annual Volunteer Services budget.
  • Oversees department’s quality and process improvement.
  • Oversees all aspects of volunteer resource management, including recruitment, screening, supervision, performance management (including competency verification and evaluation), termination, retention, and recognition.
  • Designs volunteer onboarding and training in accordance with regulatory requirements, Joint Commission standards, and best practice, utilizing up-to-date adult learning theory and employing various modes of delivery (e.g., in person, on-line, remote, etc.)
  • Works with community organizations and businesses to develop partnerships and volunteer resources.
  • Submits quantitative and qualitative reports on department's activities to leadership.
  • Leads with a servant’s heart, inspiring volunteers to enthusiastically participate in the hospice mission and to do so at an exceptional level.
  • Drives excellence (at both a department and patient/family experience level).
