About The Position

Under direction, assists in the coordination of volunteer programs for an assigned County Department; recruits, places, orients, evaluates, oversees, and directs the work of volunteers; performs community outreach; acts as a liaison between department and community groups; and performs other work as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of 60 semester (90 quarter) units or an Associate's degree with 24 semester (36 quarter) units in behavioral science, public administration, business administration, human services, social work, psychology, public health, health sciences or a field closely related to the intent of the class from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years experience in a public, nonprofit, or private agency which included coordinating or developing programs, activities and services; providing staff support and recruitment to volunteers; or performing community outreach duties.
  • Four years experience in a public, nonprofit, or private agency which included coordinating or developing programs, activities and services; providing staff support and recruitment to volunteers; or performing community outreach duties.
  • Two years experience in the class of Human Services Specialist within Sacramento County service.
  • One year experience in the class of Human Services Social Worker within Sacramento County service.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License, Class C or higher, is required prior to appointment to this class.
  • Candidates may be fingerprinted for background checks.

  • Ability to Plan, organize and give presentations before groups.
  • Ability to Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
