About The Position

As a Nordic Center Volunteer, you will play an essential role in supporting the daily operations of Snow Mountain Ranch’s award-winning Nordic Center. With over 100 kilometers of beautifully groomed ski trails, the Center offers guests a world-class Nordic skiing experience in the heart of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Your responsibilities will include opening and closing the facility, fitting and recording ski rentals, assisting with the sale of equipment, and issuing trail passes. You will also help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the Center and its surrounding areas, assist during race days and special events, and provide excellent customer service by answering phone calls and responding to questions about the trail system. Requirements

  • Minimum service commitment of 24 to 28 hours per week, depending on the season
  • Ability to fluently read, write, and speak English
  • Current certifications in First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain upon arrival)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Nordic skiing, using both classical and skate techniques
  • Ability to teach beginner and intermediate students in classical and skate skiing
  • Knowledge of techniques aligned with USSA Level 100 guidelines and additional standards set by the Nordic Center Director or Assistant Director
  • Practical knowledge of waxing techniques for both classical and skate skis
  • Ability to provide technique and waxing advice to guests
  • Familiarity with the Snow Mountain Ranch trail system and a genuine enthusiasm for Nordic skiing and outdoor recreation
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism
  • Must meet acceptable criminal background check standards

Responsibilities

  • Enforcing all Nordic Center policies and maintaining a safe, positive environment for guests and staff
  • Adhering to assigned work schedules and accurately recording timecard information
  • Developing strong knowledge of Nordic Center retail items, rental equipment, and available guest services
  • Providing clear and friendly information to guests about the Nordic Center and other Snow Mountain Ranch activities
  • Maintaining accurate records of ski lessons and ensuring all required paperwork is completed properly and on time
  • Arriving prepared for work with minimal transition time between duties
  • Supporting the upkeep, cleanliness, and presentation of the Nordic Center facility
  • Learning and operating the point-of-sale system for retail transactions
  • Answering phone calls promptly and professionally, recording messages accurately, and ensuring follow-up
  • Performing other duties as assigned
