About The Position

The Regional Food Bank is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Volunteer Engagement Specialist to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will collaborate with individual and group volunteers, as well as fellow Volunteer Department staff, to support our mission. Each year, over 20,000 volunteers contribute their time to our cause. The successful candidate is someone who is: Dependable and has a strong work ethic, Energetic, good with people, and a team player, Able to communicate various instructions coherently and provide an educational component to volunteers (training on topic provided), Become savvy in the use of CERVIS, a volunteer scheduling software program (training provided), Able to correspond with and schedule high volumes of volunteers on a daily basis, Able to work in a physically active, fast-paced environment, Able to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, Able to work in a warehouse where temperatures fluctuate, Responsible for opening and closing the building, Available weekdays, weeknights and one weekend day on a prearranged schedule, Able to receive a forklift operator's license with training provided by the Food Bank, Able to provide own steel-toe shoes, Committed to the cause of hunger relief and serious about working hard for a good cause. This is a permanent full-time position consisting of 40 hours per week as follows: Sunday 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm, Tuesday 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, Wednesday 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm, Thursday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Possess a valid New York State driver's license.
  • High School or equivalent diploma.
  • 1 year related experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to provide own steel-toe shoes.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience operating power equipment in a warehouse setting.

Responsibilities

  • Support the mission of the Regional Food Bank by collaborating with individual and group volunteers, and fellow Volunteer Department staff.
