About The Position

Reporting to the Manager of Volunteer Programs, the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator organizes all volunteer resources to enhance the delivery of the Museum’s programs and services. This includes working cross-functionally to provide guidance, support, and tools to Museum team members through volunteer programming. The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator will be able to make a positive, long-term impact on the community by connecting dynamic science learning with opportunities for volunteers to engage with at the Museum. The Volunteer Programs Coordinator will be responsible for initiating, cultivating, and developing sustained and productive relationships with volunteers, trustees, stakeholders, and other Museum supporters across North Texas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study
  • At least one year of experience in education and programming
  • At least one year of experience in a role that demonstrates engagement, passion, and commitment to community and volunteer service
  • At least one year of experience in a role that demonstrates practical knowledge of local community organizations and resources
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to achieve expected results while working independently and collaboratively
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Proven capacity to work effectively as a team player who can consistently interact and demonstrate civility among peers and other associates within a collegial yet demanding, fast-paced work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully handle a variety of diverse constituencies, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and thrive in a complex environment with multiple priorities

Responsibilities

  • Authentically and professionally project and reflect the mission of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science
  • Assess departmental needs and deploy volunteers into appropriate roles
  • Provide daily on‑the‑floor volunteer support, including check‑in, engagement, coaching, and check‑out
  • Lead volunteer recruitment, including application review, interviews, onboarding, and system setup
  • Deliver ongoing training, real‑time feedback, and performance support to volunteers
  • Track volunteer data, milestones, training, recognition, and engagement touchpoints
  • Coordinate communication and logistics for student volunteers and school partners, including ConnecTEEN and recurring programs
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with individual volunteers, groups, and internal stakeholders
  • Support and grow a strong museum‑wide culture of volunteer engagement
  • Lead and support volunteer engagement events and appreciation initiatives
  • Develop and refine systems, processes, and structures to support a growing volunteer program
  • Represent the Museum through professional networks and community engagement opportunities
  • Collaborate cross‑departmentally to ensure a cohesive visitor and volunteer experience
  • Maintain working knowledge of Museum programs, audiences, and educational offerings
  • Other duties as assigned
