About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) to improve the quality of life for community residents. GCU has a partnership with Saving Amy, a 501(c)(3) organization that provides mentoring, supportive programs, and financial support to homeless/unhoused individuals. This position is an FWS-CSLP approved role, meaning it provides community services open and accessible to non-GCU community members. The student worker's schedule is dependent on Saving Amy's hours of operation and needs, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year. Applicants must complete their FAFSA to be reviewed for FWS-eligibility.

Requirements

  • Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
  • Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor’s program or master’s program.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Mentoring a plus.
  • Ability to speak a second language a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee programs including scheduling, communicating with volunteers and participants, and tracking program metrics.
  • Plan and coordinate program-specific events/activities.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with community partners.
  • Provide administrative support.
  • Other duties as assigned.
