About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with nonprofit organizations, identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3), that aim to improve the quality of life for community residents. GCU has a partnership with NextGen Creatives, whose mission is to foster the creative talents of youth in the foster care system. This CSLP student worker position is approved for Community Service, providing services to non-GCU community members. The work schedule is based on the needs of NextGen Creatives, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year and potential for summer work. Applicants must complete the FAFSA to be reviewed for FWS-eligibility.

Requirements

  • Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
  • Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
  • Comfort supporting youth from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Enrolled at GCU in a bachelor’s program or master’s program full-time during fall/spring or half-time during summer.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

Responsibilities

  • Implement social media strategies and marketing efforts to promote literacy programs and theatrical productions.
  • Serve as a primary "Community Ambassador" on-site at events, facilitating registration for low-income families and assisting in the physical management of workshops.
  • Coordinate with "A Hope & A Future" staff regarding the progress of youth within the program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
