About The Position

The Volunteer and Membership Programs Supervisor supports the coordination and implementation of Autism Ontario’s volunteer engagement, peer mentorship, and membership communications initiatives. This role works collaboratively with internal teams to strengthen opportunities for volunteers and community members to engage with Autism Ontario’s programs and services.  This position works closely with program teams across the organization to ensure volunteer, mentorship, and membership initiatives align with Autism Ontario’s mission and support meaningful, accessible experiences for the community.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in social services, community development, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years supervising or leading community programs, volunteer initiatives, or family support services.
  • Experience working with or supporting volunteers, including recruitment, onboarding, and engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to support initiatives that promote peer support, community leadership, or lived-experience engagement.
  • Comfort facilitating training or supporting volunteers in roles that involve boundaries, confidentiality, and family-facing interactions.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating programs or initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience developing or coordinating communications such as newsletters, member updates, or program materials.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage volunteers, families, and internal teams in a respectful and collaborative manner.
  • Experience using digital platforms or CRM systems for volunteer or program coordination is an asset, including familiarity with mentoring or community engagement platforms such as MentorCity and NeonOne.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines while supporting program implementation and operational tasks.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit, community-based, or social services environment is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of autism, neurodiversity, or experience supporting individuals with disabilities and their families is an asset.
  • Must be proficient with various computer programs including database management, email, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated commitment to principles of social justice, neurodiversity, equity, inclusion, anti- racism, anti-Black racism, anti-ableism

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the implementation and continuous improvement of Autism Ontario’s volunteer engagement and peer mentorship initiatives, helping expand opportunities for families and autistic adults to connect through lived experience and community leadership.
  • Contribute to member engagement by supporting communications initiatives, including the development and coordination of Autism Ontario’s quarterly membership newsletter to strengthen connection, awareness, and participation across the community.
  • Support the coordination and delivery of Autism Ontario’s volunteer program in collaboration with the Volunteer Services Coordinator, helping ensure volunteers are effectively recruited, onboarded, trained, and supported to contribute to positive program experiences.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to volunteer program activities, helping ensure volunteers are aligned with Autism Ontario’s policies, values, and expectations when engaging with families and community members.
  • Act as a system administrator for online platform NeonOne, ensuring data accuracy and distribution of volunteer information to relevant departments
  • Oversee the volunteer program and support the Volunteer Services Coordinator with ensuring onboarding, training, and appreciation strategy are meeting expectations and deliverables.
  • Support the implementation of Autism Ontario’s Peer Mentorship Program pilot, assisting with the development and coordination of program processes, training, and operational structures required for launch.
  • Coordinate the recruitment, screening, onboarding, and training of volunteer mentors, ensuring mentors are prepared to provide safe, respectful, and empowering peer support.
  • Administer with the setup and ongoing coordination of the mentorship platform MentorCity, supporting mentor and mentee engagement throughout the program.
  • Coordinate the development and distribution of Autism Ontario’s quarterly membership newsletter, working collaboratively with internal teams to highlight programs, resources, volunteer opportunities, and community stories.
  • Assist with member engagement initiatives by ensuring communications reflect the experiences, needs, and interests of Autism Ontario’s diverse membership community.
  • Other duties as assigned.
