About The Position

Avenues Athletics Department is seeking committed coaches to develop, plan, and implement its growing sports curriculum. Coaches will instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success, while fostering integrity, pride, sportsmanship, self-discipline, goal setting, teamwork, and self-confidence. The department aims to create programs where Middle and Upper School coaches collaborate to ensure comprehensive skill development and meet the needs of student athletes.

Requirements

Head coaches have 2+ years of volleyball head coach coaching experience
Assistant coaches have 1+ years of volleyball coaching or related experience
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work well with student athletes, parents, faculty/staff and the athletics department
Current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to get training before the season commences
Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the sport, with special consideration given to those having experience with the desired age category
Enthusiasm, commitment, patience, and a passion for teaching the game are essential
Ability to motivate and provide positive leadership to our student athletes by following our school and athletic mission
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Must be living in New York or surrounding area during the season

Responsibilities

Breakdown and teach the fundamental skills for players at all levels (Head Coach)
Attend all scheduled games and practices
Manage and coordinate practice and game plans (Head Coach)
Handle all administrative duties related to their team (Head Coach)
Attend all necessary athletic and school meetings and events
Support head coach in promoting the mission of the program (Assistant Coach)
Contribute to and/or run practice sessions (Assistant Coach)
Gather and record statistical information (Assistant Coach)
