About The Position

AT&T Global Public Sector is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Voice IT Field Support Specialist to support RIS I regional IT service delivery with a focus on voice infrastructure, telephony modernization, and end-user communications support. This role provides hands-on field and technical support for legacy telephone environments, VoIP and unified communications migrations, site surveys, cutover planning, testing, documentation, and transition-to-operations activities. The selected candidate will help ensure secure, reliable, and mission-ready voice services for customers by coordinating with technical teams, validating requirements, resolving implementation issues, and supporting successful modernization outcomes in a customer-site environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant IT experience.
  • Must possess 8570 Certification ; Security+ certification is highly preferred.
  • TS/SCI with polygraph clearance required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record and be eligible to drive an AT&T company vehicle.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs. as required.
  • Availability to work an 8-hour shift scheduled between the hours of 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM, as determined by management.

Responsibilities

  • Assess legacy TDM telephone environments, including devices, circuits, analog lines, cabling, power, rack space, user counts, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Document current-state voice architecture and identify migration requirements, technical dependencies, transition risks, and implementation timelines.
  • Develop modernization and migration plans for transitioning users and devices from legacy TDM platforms to VoIP and unified communications solutions.
  • Coordinate number porting, device replacement, dial plan validation, phased deployment activities, provisioning, feature setup, and service activation.
  • Validate network readiness for VoIP implementation, including power requirements, gateway and switch compatibility, and integration with enterprise communications environments.
  • Manage installation, configuration, activation, and testing of VoIP telephone devices and related services.
  • Develop and execute cutover plans, including pre- and post-implementation testing of call routing, voicemail, emergency calling, user functionality, and service continuity.
  • Coordinate with telephone central office personnel, technical teams, and customer stakeholders to resolve implementation issues and minimize operational disruption.
  • Prepare implementation documentation, update inventories and diagrams, and support transition-to-operations activities.
  • Provide user communications, training, and post-implementation support, and coordinate decommissioning of retired TDM devices and services once VoIP operations are stable and accepted.
