About the Opportunity We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field IT Support Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a general knowledge of control systems, including PLCs, and be proficient in general networking installation and maintenance, PC support, and Internet connectivity through technologies such as Fiber Optic and Starlink. This role requires working in a field environment, interfacing with field staff, control system engineers, SCADA teams, and management to ensure seamless IT operations and high data availability.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of control systems, particularly PLCs and turbine control systems (e.g., Mark VIe, Siemens, or similar).
  • Experience with networking installation and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in general PC support and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Internet connectivity technologies such as Fiber Optic and Starlink.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC, DNP3, MQTT) and data normalization techniques.
  • Experience with HMI platforms for designing dashboards, alarms, and trending capabilities.
  • Familiarity with data architecture, data pipelines, and storage solutions (e.g., historians or databases) for real-time and long-term data management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a field environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interface effectively with field staff, control system engineers, SCADA teams, customers, and management.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications in relevant IT fields preferred.
  • Experience working in industrial or field environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of other control systems, automation technologies, or SCADA systems preferred.
  • Experience with data integration, historian systems, or database management for industrial applications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site IT support for control systems, including PLCs.
  • Perform general networking installation and maintenance tasks.
  • Offer general PC support, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Ensure reliable Internet connectivity using technologies such as Fiber Optic and Starlink.
  • Configure communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC, DNP3, MQTT) to extract and normalize control system data.
  • Collaborate with field staff, control system engineers, SCADA teams, and management to address IT-related concerns, ensure seamless connectivity, and provide solutions.
  • Design dashboards, alarms, and trending capabilities in the HMI for operators, engineers, and management.
  • Troubleshoot system integration issues and maintain high data availability.
  • Maintain and update documentation related to IT infrastructure, system architecture, configurations, and workflows.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and updates to ensure optimal performance of IT systems.
  • Assist in the setup and configuration of new IT equipment and systems.
  • Provide training and support to field staff and operations personnel on IT-related topics and new monitoring tools as needed.
  • Integrate multiple data sources into a unified HMI for real-time operations monitoring and trending.
  • Develop a scalable data architecture to capture, process, and consolidate real-time data from turbine control systems (e.g., Mark VIe, Siemens, or similar).
  • Define data pipelines to transfer turbine operational parameters, alarms, and performance metrics into a centralized monitoring platform.
  • Ensure data reliability, redundancy, and security in system design.
  • Implement data storage solutions (e.g., historian or database) for long-term trend analysis.
