Voice Actor - Flexible Hours

About The Position

Innodata is hiring a Voice Actor for a voice data collection pilot involving live, roleplayed customer service calls. The actor plays a business representative, such as a clinic receptionist or facility assistant, while a member of the training team calls as a customer. Calls are unscripted for the caller, so the actor must stay in character, follow a defined policy, and respond naturally to what arises. Before the session, the actor receives two receiver scripts at least 24 hours in advance and prepares to deliver their content naturally rather than reading it aloud. During one 20-minute session, the actor completes two roleplayed calls of approximately 5–7 minutes each: one routine call and one more demanding call requiring a polite but firm response to caller pushback. The actor records both sides of each call as a single mixed audio track using provided capture equipment, follows file-naming instructions, and uploads the recordings to the designated folder. Within 24 hours after the session, the actor uploads both recordings and completes a structured evaluation of each call. The evaluation includes scores on a 1–5 scale, error tags with severity ratings, and specific timestamped notes. Performance is assessed on roleplay quality, audio capture quality, and evaluation accuracy. The role requires a quiet, uninterrupted home workspace and time for preparation and post-session evaluation. The expected hourly salary range is $25–$30, based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Requirements

  • Native-level English, including comfort accurately reading numbers, names, and medication dosages back.
  • Professional experience in voice acting, acting, concierge-style or customer-facing voice work, or similar.
  • A quiet, uninterrupted home workspace with no background noise or shared room.
  • Availability for a 20-minute live session, as well as preparation time beforehand and evaluation time afterward.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise technical and file-delivery instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • Call-quality monitoring, QA analyst, or trainer/CSM experience in a BPO environment.
  • Reception or front-desk experience in a clinic, property management, or storage/utilities setting.
  • Theatre, improv, or voice-over experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare from two receiver scripts provided at least 24 hours before the session and deliver the material as natural speech rather than reading it aloud.
  • Complete two roleplayed customer-service calls of about 5–7 minutes each during a single 20-minute session: one routine call and one challenging call requiring a polite, firm position.
  • Deliver clear, expressive, consistent vocal performances in accordance with project guidelines for tone, pacing, and scenarios.
  • State fixed facts exactly as written, including prices, hours, policies, and timeframes.
  • Accurately capture and read back caller-supplied details, including names, phone numbers, dosages, and amounts.
  • Verify callers' identity and authority before acting on accounts, and disclose only information allowed by the script.
  • Follow policy without inventing authority, workarounds, or exceptions, while maintaining a natural and courteous manner.
  • Record both sides of each call as a single mixed audio track using the provided capture equipment.
  • Name recording files exactly as specified and upload them to the designated folder in the briefing packet.
  • Within 24 hours of the session, upload both recordings and complete a structured evaluation for each call, including 1–5 scores, severity-rated error tags, and specific timestamped notes.
