As a Vocational Services Worker with the Department of Human Services (DHS), you play an important role in helping patients grow stronger and more confident. The role works closely with clinical teams to deliver planned services and maintain accurate documentation.

Requirements

  • Four years of paraprofessional experience providing vocational services to individuals with physical, medical, or intellectual disabilities; or A bachelor’s degree in vocational rehabilitation, vocational education, vocational counseling, or a related human services field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • You must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop planned activities and vocational goals that support patient treatment
  • Conduct therapeutic groups and sessions across recreation, vocational, social, and community areas
  • Complete patient assessments and documentation following established guidelines
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute recommendations for treatment plans
  • Provide instruction, coaching, and support in various vocational settings such as retail, food service, and clerical areas
  • Maintain clinical records, attendance, and work logs to track patient progress
