Concord Counseling Services is seeking a Vocational Employment Specialist to educate and support clients with securing employment and to approach and communicate with employers to ensure a successful work experience. There are flexible work hours available between 30-40 hours per week based on your availability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience conducting vocational assessments and developing individual service plans
  • Experience documenting service notes
  • Working knowledge of mental illness, psychiatric symptoms, and their impact on functioning and behavior
  • Knowledge of the competitive employment landscape and best practices for searching, applying and interviewing for jobs; able to efficiently navigate job boards and company websites.
  • Strong coaching, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Teams and Outlook
  • Must have a valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle, maintain a good driving record and can provide safe transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor Preferred
  • proficiency with Excel and an electronic medical record software is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Determining client needs and designing and implementing vocational programs that may include assessment, vocational counseling, training, and job placement.
  • Participating in job development and placement programs, contacting prospective employers, placing clients in jobs, and evaluating the success of placements.
  • Maintaining close contact with clients during job training and placements to resolve problems and evaluate placement adequacy.
  • Arranging for physical, mental, academic, vocational, and other evaluations to obtain information for assessing clients' needs and developing rehabilitation plans.
  • Arranging for on-site job coaching or assistive devices, such as specially equipped wheelchairs, to help clients adapt to work or school environments.
  • Locating barriers to client employment, such as inaccessible work sites, inflexible schedules, and transportation problems, and work with clients to develop strategies for overcoming barriers.
