About The Position

The Vocational Counselor provides vocational services and consultation as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team. This role involves visiting clients in their homes and other settings, integrating vocational goals into service plans, and advocating for participant rights and preferences. The counselor is responsible for charting client services, creating monthly employment status spreadsheets, and following up with employed tenants quarterly. Participation in bi-weekly meetings and monthly supervision is also required.

Requirements

HS diploma or GED required
Three years’ experience with homeless population
Ability to work with a culturally diverse population

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services field preferred
Familiarity of NYC public school system preferred
Experience in residential setting, group work, tenant organization, case management, referral, and/or community outreach strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Provides vocational services and consultation as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
Visits clients in their home and other settings required.
Responsible for integrating vocational goals and services.
Performing routine clinical services as a member of the Team.
Responsible for charting client services.
Responsible for creating the service plan (vocational portion or all).
Responsible for integrating vocational goals and services with the tasks of all the team members.
Responsible for ensuring revisions to the plan as the participants’ needs change.
Advocating on the rights and preferences of the participant whenever possible.
Responsible for creating a monthly spreadsheet with names of tenants and their employment status.
Follow-up quarterly with all employed tenants.
Assist with making monthly contact with tenants as needed.
Participate in bi-weekly monthly meeting.
Participate in monthly supervision to address any work-related tasks or concerns.
Other duties as assigned.
