About The Position

As the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor you will coordinate the day-to-day operations of a vocational training program and facilitate implementation of individual employment plans in community job sites. This role involves working directly with assigned individuals to implement Individual Plans of Employment in community job sites or other locations, completing necessary assessments/paperwork as required by Department of Rehabilitation Services (DRS), and marketing and recruiting companies for contract-supported employment and volunteer opportunities. The position also includes transporting individuals to work sites and assisting in transferring them, encouraging and facilitating a normalized work environment through coaching, mentoring, and training, reporting and documenting all occurrences of injuries, maintaining a safe environment, attending scheduled in-service training, providing daily oversight of Direct Support Professionals, monitoring and maintaining billing and DRS authorizations, and contributing to the training of other departmental employees as needed.

Requirements

  • CRC (Certified Rehabilitation Counselor) credential required (or eligibility in progress)
  • Current driver’s license in good standing, car registration, and auto insurance
  • A combination of education and experience that provides equivalent proficiency in the areas of responsibility may be substituted for the above education and experience (pay to be discussed)

Responsibilities

  • Transport individuals to work sites and assist in transferring individuals out of van or auto
  • Encourage and facilitate normalized work environment through coaching, mentoring, and training
  • Report and document all occurrences of injuries if necessary; maintain a safe environment
  • Attend scheduled in-service training
  • Provide daily oversight of Direct Support Professionals
  • Monitor and maintain billing and DRS authorizations; maintain billable goals
  • Contribute to training of other departmental employees as needed
