About The Position

Success Academy is seeking a highly skilled Vocal Specialist to serve as a Network Music Coach. This pivotal role is designed to drive musical excellence through structured private and small group vocal lessons, elevating individual scholar performance and strengthening our high school ensembles to compete at local, regional, and national levels. By providing elite coaching, you will help open doors to top college music programs for our talented scholars.

Requirements

  • Expert in vocal technique, pedagogy, repertoire, and performance practice.
  • Adept at teaching both male and female singers, encompassing all ranges, from bass to soprano.
  • Expertise in a wide range of genres, from classical to Broadway and contemporary music.
  • Effective at coaching vocal health and approach for both solo and choral singing.
  • Strong music theory and piano skills.
  • Ability to travel to school sites across the network as needed.
  • Ability to help Music Specialists curate and manage a Network Music Library of music scores and parts.
  • Ability to purchase sheet music for classes, showcases, professional development, competitions, and adjudications.
  • Ability to ensure any necessary performing or arranging rights are properly acquired.
  • Ability to make any necessary copies of the scores/parts for storing and disseminating to teachers and scholars.
  • Ability to catalog material along the lines of Texas’ UIL repertoire list.
  • Ability to serve as a resident piano accompanist for any group/ensemble at rehearsals, performances, professional development sessions, or other events requiring live accompaniment.
  • Ability to record any piano backing tracks, as needed for scholar practice or performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead weekly 25-50 minute private and small group vocal lessons throughout the day across three high school campuses.
  • Travel to network sites to tutor, prepare, and ensure quality for scholars and ensembles performing at network events (e.g., FOPA, Pride in Performance, Gala, Commencement) or external competitions.
  • Curate and manage a Network Music Library, including purchasing sheet music, acquiring performance rights, copying scores, and cataloging repertoire to support teaching and lesson planning.
  • Provide professional development and coaching to music staff and choir teachers to support instructional quality.
  • Serve as a resident piano accompanist for rehearsals, performances, professional development, and other events, including recording piano backing tracks.
