About The Position

School of Rock is seeking a Vocal Instructor for its North Haven location. The instructor is responsible for music education during lessons and rehearsals, creating a dynamic experience that challenges and inspires students. The role promotes music and life skills through performance-based music education, with instruction focused on vocals and potential opportunities to engage broader musical abilities. The instructor also supports student and family relationships and contributes to the overall execution of the school’s program.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience teaching and/or performing music professionally.
Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design.
Ability to work well with a wide range of customers and other people.
Strong organizational skills.
Very strong customer relations skills.
Resourcefulness and problem-solving ability.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor.
Good judgment.
Passion for teaching.

Working musician with formal music school training.

Responsibilities

Maximize the quality of music instruction, including private lessons and shows.
Ensure students learn music fundamentals, not just songs.
Create and document thoughtful lesson plans.
Communicate regularly with parents about students’ progress after lessons.
Be visible and accessible in the school and interact regularly with parents and students.
Pitch in during canceled lessons to support execution of the overall program.
Assist in rehearsals and basic school maintenance.
Follow the School of Rock Code of Conduct and safety policies, including the Monitoring and Supervision policy.
