About The Position

The VMI Technician delivers and services vending account customers and customer cabinets or storerooms, maintaining inventory of gases, consumables, and safety products. The role serves existing accounts across an assigned territory, provides customer service to internal and external customers, and performs basic troubleshooting and mechanical repairs as needed. The technician delivers and replenishes industrial products, vending machines, or storeroom items; reviews manual stock levels across customer departments and branch inventory; and tracks delivery and consignment fill tickets. VMI duties may also include traveling to customer sites to manage service relationships and packaged gas inventory of Airgas cylinders and VGLs. The technician follows safety rules, reports accidents or injuries promptly, uses required personal protective equipment, maintains a professional appearance, and fosters positive working relationships with customers, vendors, coworkers, and management. The role may also involve reasonable work requests within the employee’s qualifications.

Requirements

Valid U.S. driver’s license.
At least 2 years of experience in product distribution or inventory management.
Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments in varying seasonal weather conditions.
Ability to visit Airgas and customer sites with varying environments, conditions, layouts, and accessibility.
Ability to work in environments that may have loud noises and/or odors for extended or continual periods.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent; an associate or bachelor’s degree in Business, Welding Technology, or Sales is preferred.
Experience with welding and safety products or related industrial products.
Proficient working knowledge of Google Suite, including Gmail, Sheets, and Docs.
Self-starter who is self-motivated, works with urgency, and can work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
Demonstrated planning skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Clear and effective speaking skills for explaining information to customers and employees.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Deliver and replenish industrial products, vending machines, and storeroom items for assigned customer accounts.
Service customer cabinets and storerooms and manage inventory of gases, consumables, and safety products.
Perform basic troubleshooting and mechanical repairs as needed.
Review manual stock levels across multiple customer plant departments to determine reorder needs.
Maintain dedicated branch inventory levels for proper replenishment.
Track and submit delivery tickets and consignment fill tickets.
Visit customer sites as needed to manage customer service relationships and packaged gas inventory of Airgas cylinders and VGLs.
Provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
Follow safety rules, use personal protective equipment, and promptly report accidents or injuries.
Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance and foster positive relationships with customers, vendors, coworkers, and management.
Support reasonable work requests within the employee’s qualifications.
