About The Position

The Vital Statistics Technician will complete or assist with birth certificates and/or required data abstraction for entry into the State of Alabama database system EVERS. They will also complete or assist with death certificates in the State of Alabama EDR for Huntsville Hospital deaths according to Center for Vital Statistics guidelines. Other medical record departmental duties as assigned.

Requirements

HS/GED required.
Minimum of one-year clerical experience required.
Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Must be able to use computer, word processing and spreadsheet software, fax machine, and copy machine.

Nice To Haves

Medical Records or physician office experience preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not a requirement.
