This role is responsible for adhering to hospital, departmental policies, and regulatory requirements for the accurate and timely processing of birth and death certificates within the NYSDOH electronic system.

Requirements

• High school diploma with 1-2 years of experience in an area directly related to the position.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficiency with automated patient information.
• Knowledge of relevant computer systems required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Directly interacts with parents and family members to ensure that a birth certificate is created for each live birth and death certificate is created for each death.
• Enters and transmits all required data in a timely fashion and as required by the NYSDOH.
• Reports all induced and spontaneous terminations of pregnancy in accordance with NYSDOH regulations.
• Reports sterilization data in accordance with NYSDOH regulations.
• Communicates directly with new parents, physicians, vital statistics, funeral homes, and health department to expedite the processing of and timely submission of birth and/or death certificates.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
