This position is for a Vital Statistics Registrar - Per Diem - Mineola. The successful candidate will be responsible for adhering to hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements for the accurate and timely processing of birth and death certificates using the NYSDOH electronic system.
Requirements
- High school diploma
- 1-2 years of experience in an area directly related to the position
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficiency with automated patient information
- Knowledge of relevant computer systems required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
- Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities
- Directly interacts with parents and family members to ensure that a birth certificate is created for each live birth and death certificate is created for each death.
- Enters and transmits all required data in a timely fashion and as required by the NYSDOH.
- Reports all induced and spontaneous terminations of pregnancy in accordance with NYSDOH regulations.
- Reports sterilization data in accordance with NYSDOH regulations.
- Communicates directly with new parents, physicians, vital statistics, funeral homes, and health department to expedite the processing of and timely submission of birth and/or death certificates.
- Performs other duties as assigned
