Central State Hospital (CSH) is a 277-bed Joint Commission accredited psychiatric inpatient facility located in Petersburg, Virginia, serving citizens since 1870. CSH operates the state's only maximum-security treatment facility (111 beds) and also provides inpatient care for community individuals and those in the criminal justice system (166 beds). The hospital emphasizes holistic, person-centered, and recovery-oriented treatment, utilizing modalities such as medication, evidence-based therapies, peer support, psychosocial rehabilitation, vocational training, court preparation, and substance use treatment. Central State Hospital is recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Vital Records & Clinical Social Work Floater committed to providing person-centered, recovery-oriented services to individuals with serious mental illness. This role is crucial for developing, implementing, and coordinating individualized treatment and discharge plans; facilitating therapeutic interventions and psychosocial rehabilitation groups; providing supportive counseling and education to patients and families; and collaborating with Community Services Boards (CSBs), interdisciplinary treatment teams, and patient support networks. The successful candidate will maintain timely, clinically sound documentation, assist patients in obtaining benefits, vital records, and other essential discharge resources, and actively participate in ongoing professional development while supporting the hospital's mission, values, and commitment to high-quality behavioral healthcare.
