Visual Producer Internship – Summer 2027
About The Position
The Minnesota Star Tribune is seeking talented, driven college juniors, seniors, and graduate students for a 10-week summer visual producer internship at their Minneapolis, MN headquarters. This internship is designed to provide invaluable experience in a major-market newsroom, focusing on developing skills in visual journalism. Interns are expected to produce daily news, sports, and features galleries, collaborate with editors and photographers, promote content on social media, and generate story ideas. Requirements
- some still photography/video editing experience
- a strong sense of organization and time management
- familiarity with all forms of social media for newsgathering and distribution
- talented, driven college juniors, seniors and graduate students
- a strong, developing visual sense for still images and video
- well-versed with Photoshop and Photo Mechanic
- currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of audio production is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere and audio editing software is a plus.
- Top candidates can demonstrate they’re ready to make the most of this opportunity.
Responsibilities
- produce daily news, sports and features galleries
- work closely with the picture editors and photographers to coordinate assignments and longer-term projects for the photo/video staff
- help promote content on social media, across all platforms
- generate story ideas the photo/video staff can pursue
- conduct themselves in a professional manner
