Visual Producer Internship – Summer 2027
About The Position
The Minnesota Star Tribune is seeking dynamic leaders who are passionate about journalism and democracy to help shape the future of this innovative modern media organization. This 10-week summer visual producer internship is designed for talented, driven college juniors, seniors, and graduate students with a strong news sense and visual acumen. Interns will gain invaluable experience in a major-market newsroom, producing daily news, sports, and features galleries, working closely with picture editors and photographers, promoting content on social media, and generating story ideas. Requirements
- Talented, driven college juniors, seniors and graduate students
- Strong news sense and visual acumen
- Some still photography/video editing experience
- Strong sense of organization and time management
- Familiarity with all forms of social media for newsgathering and distribution
- Well-versed with Photoshop and Photo Mechanic
- Currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of audio production is an advantage
- Familiarity with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere and audio editing software is a plus
Responsibilities
- Produce daily news, sports and features galleries
- Work closely with the picture editors and photographers to coordinate assignments and longer-term projects for the photo/video staff
- Help promote content on social media, across all platforms
- Generate story ideas the photo/video staff can pursue
- Conduct themselves in a professional manner
