About The Position

DreamWorks Animation is seeking adventurous and driven individuals for their Fall 2026 Visual Development Internship. This program is designed for students and recent graduates passionate about animation, offering hands-on experience in a production environment. Interns will work alongside creative leaders and artists, contributing to TV and Feature animated productions. The program emphasizes a collaborative and inclusive culture, providing opportunities for professional and artistic development through executive speaker series, workshops, classes, and screenings. DreamWorks values diverse experiences and encourages curiosity, resourcefulness, and a passion for storytelling.

Requirements

  • Strong skills in Photoshop.
  • Currently pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate degree at a College/University (or equivalent), or be a recent graduate within six months of graduation date.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be willing to work in Glendale, California.
  • Ability to provide own relocation, housing, and transportation.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with 3D tools (Maya, Blender, ZBrush) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Imagine and propose ideas for the visual look of animated worlds based on story, characters, and action.
  • Utilize reference, illustration, drawing, and design skills, along with 3D tools like Maya, to create visuals that convey the envisioned look of the world.
  • Experience visual development in a production environment over 10 weeks.
  • Work closely with Production Designers and mentors on assigned productions.
  • Develop concepts from initial design to final execution by pulling reference, crafting mood boards, and designing sets, props, and color keys.
  • Ask questions, clarify notes, and ensure designs meet feedback requirements.
  • Consistently meet deadlines and communicate work progress to supervisors and production staff.
