Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering
About The Position
The Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at the University of Denver (DU) is seeking to build an academically diverse faculty and staff committed to student support and research through the teacher-scholar model. The ME Department invites applications for a non-tenure track, full-time Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor for the 2026-27 academic year, beginning September 1, 2026. This is a nine-month position. The successful applicant will possess a passion for teaching and a proven ability to effectively teach undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses. Duties include teaching approximately six quarter-based courses per year, advising students, and participating in department and university service. Research is not required for this position. We are looking for exceptional faculty who can engage students both inside and outside the classroom, deliver active and hands-on learning experiences, and authentically support our mission of broadening participation of all students in STEM.
Requirements
- Teaching experience in a college or university setting
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and a teamwork mindset
- PhD or terminal degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, engineering, or related field
Nice To Haves
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with teaching methods and/or pedagogies to effectively engage student populations
- Experience in mentoring and student advising
