Visiting Lecturer in History
About The Position
The College of the Holy Cross seeks a Part-Time Visiting Lecturer in History for the Fall 2026 semester. The lecturer will teach two sections of HIST 271: Native American History 1: The Indians' New World, with each section having 19 students. This course surveys Native American history from the pre-Columbian era through the mid-19th century, exploring themes such as trade, work, war, disease, gender, and religion, and examining questions of historical assumptions, representation in narratives, and diverse Native American experiences. The course begins with pre-1492 North America and concludes with mid-19th century forced removals.
Requirements
- Demonstrated commitment to and excellence in undergraduate teaching.
- Demonstrated excellence in inclusive pedagogies as informed by current practice and scholarship in the field.
- Ph.D. preferred.
- Graduate transcripts.
- Two confidential letters of recommendation.
- A letter of application.
- A current curriculum vitae.
- A statement on teaching philosophy and interests.
- Ability to address contributions to the College’s mission as a Jesuit, undergraduate liberal arts college.
Responsibilities
